Come out and cast off the winter doldrums with the Northern Jazz as they perform in the Gunderson Commons at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls on Thursday, March 7. The doors will open at 6:30 with the music beginning at 7:00. A free will donation will be collected to support the Northwest Minnesota Community Bands, a local 501c3 that supports both the Northern Jazz and Northland Community Band. Light snacks and beverages are included for the audience to enjoy during the concert.
A wide variety of music will be played this evening with a heavy dose of Latin Jazz mixed in. Plenty of music to tap your feet to or dance to including swing era hits, jump swing and rock numbers with familiar titles like “In the Mood,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Star Dust,” “Rock Around the Clock,” and Twist and Shout.” The Latin Jazz music will include several styles including samba, calypso, mambo, rhumba, and bossa nova with titles like “Besame Mucho,” “Havana,” and “Mambo No. 5.”
